A Better Burrillville: My Plan for Everyone!

1. Put People First in Local Government

Government should work with the people—not over them.

  • Open, respectful town meetings where every voice is heard

  • Transparent decision making, no backroom deals

  • A commitment to civility, accountability, and collaboration

2. Make Life More Affordable

Everyday costs are hitting working families hard—we can take action locally.

  • Advocate for smart budgeting that reduces unnecessary spending

  • Support local businesses to keep dollars in our community

  • Push for relief programs and partnerships that help lower costs for residents

3. Strengthen Public Services That Matter

Reliable services are the foundation of a strong town.

  • Invest in public safety, roads, infrastructure, and schools

  • Modernize town services to be more efficient and accessible

  • Ensure taxpayer dollars are used responsibly and effectively

4. Lower town energy spending that will provide less tax pressure

We may not control the entire energy system, but we can lower costs locally—by buying power smarter, helping residents use less, supporting community solar and storage, and cutting through barriers that drive up costs. It’s about using every tool we have to bring bills down.

Local reality: We need to pull the levers of governement available to us, and at the right time to help ensure savings to our residents.

Initiatives

  • Launch a Burrillville Energy Savings Program:

    • insulation, weatherization, heat pumps, senior assistance

  • Prioritize solar on rooftops, parking lots, landfills—not forests

  • Require full transparency on energy cost impacts for any new project

  • Develop a town energy purchasing and storage strategy for schools and municipal buildings

5. Local government transparency and competence

Core idea: Meet the public’s frustration with a “make government work” agenda.

Policy pieces

  • Publish electronic town project trackers for roads, grants, permits, land-use applications, and capital projects

  • Require plain-language summaries for major ordinances and budget votes

  • Record and archive public meetings wherever feasible. And make them easier to access electronically

  • Create quarterly “office hours” in village centers, libraries, senior centers, and fire stations

  • Build a public grant calendar showing what the town applied for, won, missed, and plans to pursue

6. Fight for Education funding that does not punish our taxpayers

Core idea: Strengthen our schools while reducing pressure on property taxes

Policy pieces

  • Advocate for predictable state education funding that accounts for transportation, special education, CTE, and small-district realities

  • Support regional service sharing only when it improves quality and saves money, not as a forced consolidation agenda

  • Reduce energy costs in schools and town buildings

    • Reinvest savings into schools

  • Audit municipal spending areas outside education

  • Expand career pathways in trades, healthcare, agriculture, clean energy, public safety, and technology

  • Create partnerships with local businesses for internships and apprenticeships

  • Improve communication between residents and local government

  • Make information easier to access, understand, and use
